WHERE I COME FROM
David Rivers is a proud product of the Birmingham public school system and pursued higher education through Jefferson State Community College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he studied in the Radiologic Technology (X-ray) program.
David is a devoted member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, David has actively participated in the Progressive Choir and served as a dedicated wedding coordinator. His passion for service is reflected in his ongoing volunteer efforts, including providing care packages and hot meals to local homeless shelters.
Why David, Why Now?
David is deeply committed to community improvement. He has led initiatives to beautify neighborhoods by designing signage that encourages cleanliness and civic pride. He also spearheaded holiday decorating contests, recognizing and rewarding homeowners for outstanding displays that uplift community spirit.
A strong advocate for youth development, David worked with the BMEN organization at UAB—a professional mentorship program aimed at empowering young men. His leadership in this initiative earned him recognition for outstanding community service.
David made history as the first Black male store manager for T.J. Maxx in the Birmingham market and was honored as Manager of the Year for his exceptional performance. He has worked to bridge corporate and community engagement through events and partnerships, including serving as a member of the state AIDS fundraising committee for minority communities.
